A college education is important to me because . . .

it allows me to expand my knowledge in many fields and find what I am really passionate about. It opens up the door to more career options and, more importantly, greater knowledge. I truly enjoy learning, even though classes can sometimes be stressful. I love science and understanding the world around me and college is allowing me to explore that.

In addition to financial assistance, the Scholars Program provides me . . .

support and assistance when and if I need it. It also serves to keep me on track with setting goals and trying to attain them. Most people come into college with an end goal, whether it be their major or career goals. The Scholars Program has encouraged me to also focus on the more short term goals that will overall help me reach the final goal in the end. Setting goals each semester holds me accountable to myself to work hard and keep on trying.

Having a Scholars Program Advisor helps me to . . .

feel a sense a support that most students receive from their parents or guardians. It helps me understand what college entails and the challenges that come with it. It gives me someone that I can go to for simple questions or advice concerning how to handle certain situations or even how to handle stress from class.
